Schwarzer Elefant

This video work "black elefant" is based on and made with the sculpture "elefante" by mexican contemporary artist Fernando Garcia Correa. It shows three windows of foto sequences in black and white where a completely black rubicube is "solved" with a cheering sound of applause. There is no error, all moves are right, no logic aplies.

This work was shown at the Anahuacalli Museum in january/february 2008. The show was called "elefante negro" where 21 contemporary artists showed their work reflecting on Diego Rivera. Among them were:  Alexander Apóstol/Rafael Ortega, Alexandre Arrechea, Kader Attia, Margrét H. Blöndal, Pash Buzari, Álvaro Castillo Olmedo, Darío Escobar, Hisae Ikenaga / María García I., Huub van der Loo, Miguel Monroy, Huong Ngo, Edgar Orlaineta, Diego Pérez, Cecilia Ramírez, Laureana Toledo, Saúl Villa and Tilman Wendland. The show was curated by Ximena Apisdorf.
